I’ve had success with the Couchsurfing community over the past decade or so. I’ve made a lot of good friends surfing, hosting, and going to meetup groups and hangouts. I’m considering joining Workaway for my next trip, thanks for the tips!

Hmmm 🤔 I’m not familiar with Mundolingo but I’ll look into it. Thank you for the additional resource, Alvin!

Thank you for this insight! I enjoy travelling solo and have a bit different needs when doing so, because I'm the opposite of you - I'm socially introverted, but professionally extroverted :) I will look into your links, thanks a lot for sharing!

Yes! Specially inside MeetUp you will find many introvert friendly activities with smaller groups and / or minimal interaction. A lot of the nature photography groups I'm part of are comprised mostly of introverts. I've also found very good writing and reading groups as well as several open air movie nights. The important thing is to try and not give up. There's over 8 billion of us in this planet and it breaks my heart to see so many people week over week in sorrow, feeling completely alone.

I discovered internations when I was in China and it was a good resource to have in the beginning. I have never heard of workaway.info though. It's certainly worth checking out.

Thank you for doing the research and sharing the results with us, Alvin! So happy to connect!

Yes. Internations has been an indispensable resource for socializing and connecting with others. Specially when I arrive in a new country. Another honorable mention that didn’t make it in the article is called Mundolingo. They host language exchange events. Very nice vibe as well.
